Position Overview | This person will teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in the Biomedical Engineering department. |
Duties and Responsibilities | The duties and responsibilities included planning and preparing all course materials such as syllabus, lecture notes, homework, quizzes and exams. Some or all of the course materials maybe provided by the course coordinator for a given course. The instructor is responsible from grading assignments/exams and providing timely feedback to the student; and may or may not be assigned a teaching assistant to help with these duties. Maintaining the D2L website for the course as well as providing up-to-date grades on D2L is expected. The instructor will maintain Office Hours (live or virtual); the expectation is 1 hour of office hours per week for each hour of lecture. The instructor will post the final grades to Checkmarq before the semester deadline. The instructor will confirm the course plan with the course coordinator before the semester begins. The faculty will update the continuous improvement records in conjunction with MEEN’s Office Associate and the Director of Undergraduate Studies at the end of each semester. This may including providing the final grade distribution and examples of graded homework and exams from class. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities | Masters Degree preferred or substantial progress toward the terminal degree. |
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities | The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering or equivalent. The candidate must have a degree in Biomedical Engineering (or equivalent) at or higher than the course level being taught. Professional experience as a practicing engineer will be considered in lieu of a higher degree. |
